I’m still eating LCHF. I have only lost 1kg since I began. I’m feeling very well and have lost inches. Yesterday I had a call from Dr. Neville Wellington who has also been following all that Professor Tim Noakes has been talking about. I pulled up my ‘My Fitness Pal’ profile and started going through it with him. To my horror, I suddenly started seeing one of the reasons I’m not losing weight. I’m STILL eating too much carb. That’s the thing about My Fitness Pal… it gives you a rough indication as to where all the calories lie. What I didn’t realise was that the units of carbs, protein, fat and sugar outlined in MFP are all in grams. I’m still eating too much carbohydrate, even though I’m not eating the bread, rice, potatoes, chocolate etc etc that was I eating previously. I have to try and keep the carb count to below 50. There are carbs in everything, so I have to keep a close eye out on what I eat and zone in on the high fat stuff like avo! LCHF is a journey and you do need to experiment a bit with it. I now know biltong and (as much as I love it) marscapone cheese don’t agree with me. Tim, when he was last on air, mentioned that he has been eating this way for two years and is still finding out what works.
Meanwhile, the main event of the day: Some Christmas shopping has been done a little early at the van Niekerk home. I’ve put together a few little packages to be couriered to Cambodia. Note the tea. The package cannot be more than 1kg. I weighed it all in at 960g!! I phoned the wonderful courier lady and asked what if their courier bag weighs more than 40g? She said it won’t. I wasn’t sure, so I opened the tea and took a whole lot of teabags out. Judith phoned back and told me to leave all the tea in! So I reopened it and stuffed the tea back in again. For those starved of rooibos tea, 24 teabags will make a difference, so I’m pleased they are back in! Anyway, it’s all ready & paid for and it should be collected on Friday! It will be interesting to see when it arrives. Stacey’s birthday is on 4th December. It will definitely get there before that.
