1-25pm
Wow, it’s only two days to go before my LCHF experiment is over! What will I eat when I wake up on Wednesday morning? The thing I have missed the most, surprisingly, is not bread or chocolate, but FRUIT! I have longed for paw-paw! So this morning, as I cut up paw-paw for Granny, I had a small piece. It was so delicious, but very very sweet! The suggestion for LCHF is that you only have one fruit a day. It is very high in sugar. So Wednesday morning, if I do anything different, it will be to add a bit more fruit to my strawberries at breakfast. I pretty much spent the entire first three weeks figuring out what is in the LCHF range of foods and what suits ME! Everyone is different. I had hepatitis more than 30 years ago and so quite often fatty foods, make me feel ‘liverish!’ After finally eliminating marscarpone cheese and biltong, I have found my stomach not reacting so much to the fat and I am feeling superb! But it’s taken me three weeks to get to this point. I’ve also finally found my weight looking like it’s going to drop. My clothes are feeling looser and I’m “feeling” thin! So come Wednesday morning, nothing will change. I will officially be a LCHF person! It will be a lifestyle change, with an interlude for Christmas and special occasions!
As for today. After getting Granny up, dressed and fed, I did a bit of work and then we headed for the beach. A beautiful overcast day
The run was fabulous. Cloudy, no wind and hundreds upon hundreds of walkers doing the Big Walk while Mike and I were doing a Little Run! The sea was unbelievably calm about 18 or 19C and blissful. Add to that, we enjoyed ‘beach church!’ A small group who had a celebration with the disabled gathered on the beach before they returned to Joburg, singing choruses and enjoying God’s amazing creation…
While the ‘rescuer of souls’ were one side of the beach, there was much surf activity the other, with other rescuers on hand…
On the way home, we picked up milk and I noticed this unique number plate…
Maybe he’s a doctor. They try and heal, but God is the ultimate healer. He’s the only one who really knows what’s wrong. He’s the only one who sees beyond the scans and MRIs. He sees where the machinery can’t. He knows every heartbeat, every contraction of every muscle. He sees every cell, whether it’s normal or not. He sees cholesterol levels and narrowing of arteries. He sees the colon and the kidneys, the liver and the lungs. He is Master, Creator, Healer and Friend – Jesus. So when our pastor, Pastor John Thomas, goes into surgery tomorrow, He need not be anxious about anything. He can have the peace that passes understanding. He is in God’s grip. He will not be alone in the operating room. Apart from loads of medical staff, there will be a silent Surgeon, directing, guiding, seeing, mending. It is a very comforting thought. And tomorrow, once the surgeon’s have operated, once John is out of theatre and this operation is over, we will wait for God’s Word on the matter. It is in His hands. He will have the final say. Whatever it is, it will be for His glory.
Isaiah 58:8 says, “Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.”
In His Grip, you, me, Pastor John.
