LCHF – Day 18 – Birthday Present Day!

3-41pm

Wooo hooo! I would have been happy to wait until later tomorrow to open my presents, but Mike couldn’t wait! For good reason. His birthday gift to me is so up his street, he knows so well how much I will use it, it is the latest in cell phone technology and he has spent the day putting all the apps on that my old cell phone has. It is the new Samsung Galaxy Note II!!!!!!!!! πŸ™‚ Here it is…

I am one blessed birthday girl! That was the last photo to be taken (probably) by my old cell phone. This is the first to be taken from the new phone (it is 8mega pixels as opposed to my old LG which is 3mp)…

Much sharper…so much more detail visible! Yeah! This is going to work for me. Thank you to my amazing husband! He is amazing. We are ‘Team van Niekerk’. There is nothing better than when a husband and wife have a project in common, something they can both work towards. Currently it is Granny! With no home help on a Sunday, we are it. I woke her up and took her off to the bathroom. While I washed her, Mike made her bed and cleaned up. Our main aim is to keep Granny comfortable. We are learning how to cope with her bit by bit. She has done so well today in improving her walking. She is determined and has definitely got stronger.

Sundays are going to be days we need to work out, as Granny cannot be left alone, so we are going to have to get our act together as far as church goes. I knew it would one day come that I could not just point Granny to the bathroom and close the door behind her….that I would have to follow her into the bathroom and close the door behind US and help her with her ‘ablutions.’ At least now I know she’s clean and dry and washed and comfortable. But it takes caring forher to a whole new time consuming level!

Last night we had my birthday dinner at the Foodbarn in Noordhoek. It was lovely…very dark for my old cell phone camera, but I did manage to get thisΒ  picture of table decor…

What is amazing is that I am Day 18 of LCHF – low carb – hat fat diet. It’s been interesting…now that I have detoxed off carb and sugar. I’m feeling better, but I am still finding all this fat, very rich and a bit unsettling. I feel more clear headed, less headachy & I think I have more energy. My weight has settled … I lost a kilogramme initially and then after about a week, it came back on and it’s stayed the same since. When my 27 days are up, I’m going to keep off sugar and carb, but reduce the amount of fat in my diet. It is all just too much. I won’t be eating (triple cream) marscapone cheese and will also ditch the cream from my coffee. It has been an eye opener for me, making me very aware of what I eat and making the most of every mouthful! Prof Tim Noakes will be on the Rise and Shine show (107.5 Cape Town Wide & 96.7 in the Fish Hoek Valley – www.ccfm.org.za on the www) on Tuesday 13th November between 7 & 8am. I am sure I will have some questions for him and he for me.

1 Corinthians 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Before I end, we had such a lovely skype call with Adrian and Stacey on Friday. It was good to see them so happy and content in Cambodia. She posted a few photos on Facebook, which I am sure she won’t mind you seeing….

The week beckons.

I turn 48 tomorrow! πŸ™‚

God bless you loads!

In His Grip,
