Late Start Days

I remember when my children were babies…specially newborn and they had just arrived home. During those first days, day becomes night. Sleep when the baby sleeps. The nights can be disruptive and sleepless and when rest finally comes, it’s almost dawn!  When day came, the night’s sleep began. Yip, I remember that well.

Today, overall has gone well. Elsie has woken, fed, had her nappy changed, slept. Stacey is doing so well. Elsie is gorgeous and thriving at 4 days old…

#671 of my 1000 thanks is that I get to be here for these treasured newborn moments.

I have been quite busy at work. I did a few hours this morning and an hour or so this afternoon.  It does make a difference that it’s the weekend now. Mike went to play 18 holes at Swellendam Golf course. I joined him for the last 6 holes. He played well! Here he is putting for birdie on the 18th…

And he got it in! I learned a lesson from the golf today. There were a couple of guys behind us. They watched Mike tee off and complimented him. “That was a great drive,” one said. A little later, Mike mis-hit a shot and really zig-zagged his way to the green, but the pair behind us didn’t see the series of bad shots. The next hole, Mike hit a brilliant drive. It soared through the sky and landed perfectly on the fairway. One of the guys behind us passed the ball. He seemed to look enviously at the result of Mike’s drive. He had no idea of the mess that went down the hole before! Lesson to be learned – don’t compare yourself to others. Their lives are always going to be flawed. There is no perfection anywhere in the world. We are a fallen race and perfection will only come when we are in heaven. Just enjoy the moments when it does go right for you.

After the golf, we went shopping and then returned home. I did some work. Mike made spaghetti bolognaise.

And now we have turned in for the night.

Psalm 55:22

Cast your burden on the Lord and He will sustain you.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
