There are so many things in life that are easy to put off. Perhaps they are medical check ups that hang over your head like the sword of Damocles. You may think you are in a precarious position only to find, when you eventually do go, that you are not. You wish you had been months ago and avoided all that unnecessary worry.
Just getting on and doing it, regardless of the anxiety can end up with fantastic results. Here are some of mine:
- If I hadn’t gone to the youth group which I really didn’t want to go to, it may have taken a whole lot longer for me to come to know the Lord and I wouldn’t be the person I am today.
- If I hadn’t gone to the ‘sing-a-along’ at the Y way back in the winter of 1985 alone and knowing hardly a soul, I may never have re-met Mike. It would have been so easy NOT to go that evening.
- If I hadn’t resigned my job at the end of 1995 (the perfect mornings only job every Mom wants -but I was so unhappy), I would not have become self-employed, started to learn how to engage in sales and been able to get more involved in CCFm. That one step would lead to doors opening that remain wide open today.
- If I hadn’t signed up for evening Bible school in 1997, I would not be still be reading through the Bible each year. I am rich for what I learn each and every day.
- If I hadn’t got onto www.upwork.com to try and find online work and persevered, I would not have the amazing freelancing job I have today.
Those are just a few things that come to mind. There must be a lot more.
1 Corinthians 16:13-14
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.
Be Courageous!
Ask yourself, “In light of my past experience, current circumstances and future hopes and dreams, what is the wise thing for me to do?” (Andy Stanley)
Make a start, you’ll be so glad you did!
Now here’s something interesting. It came from a blog I found online:
1 John 5:4
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
Nike coined the phrase “just do it” and emphasized it with the swoosh that is displayed on their athletic shoes. But did you know that the word NIKE is actually a Biblical word? Nike is the Greek word used in 1 John 5:4 for victory. It is pronounced nee’-kay and is used only one time in the Bible and that is in this verse where it means conquest; the means of success; –victory. From the root word of Nike comes the word nikao which means to subdue; conquer, overcome, prevail, get the victory. It is through our faith that we learn to press through to the victory; to overcome and experience the conquest of success; to prevail until the battle is won and the victory is ours! Faith overcomes! ”
(That came from here.)
I wish you NIKE!
These are the days.
Keep the smile going!
God bless you!
In His Grip,
