In the Sea – A Hand on my Leg!

Monday

Today was the day…

Which was busy on the work front. I worked for more than 9 hours.

When I woke up at about 7am, I was a bit crotchety! I was irritated because I had woken up so late. I knew today would be busy and I felt frustrated because if we didn’t go to the beach, I’d be able to start work early, but I’d feel robbed of something we really enjoy. If we did go to the beach, I’d feel stressed because I knew there was a lot of work waiting. So…we compromised. Instead of swimming 2km, I swam a little less and got out a little earlier. It’s such a pleasant part of our day. Mike jogs on the beach. I swim and then we have chit chat with the other locals – usually about the temperature of the water, but today it was also about a pair of men’s running shoes that were picked up by one of the guys. After being found, they were left at the restaurant but not claimed, so there was discussion about how to find their owner. It was concluded that the finder would get his daughter to put them on the Fish Hoek Facebook page.

We were home not long after 9am and after a quick shower, I had breakfast and got straight to work. It was the best of both. Tomorrow, I don’t think the weather will be ideal.

What happened in the sea was another first for me.  Because I  did not intend to swim for long, I didn’t go much beyond the barrel. The tide was low so I was swimming between the visible kelp. Suddenly, I felt like a hand on my leg. It was quite a big hand, so it felt. I put my  hand down to move it off and it was a cold thick kelp leaf which seemed to cling to my upper leg. Using its stalk, I pulled it off, relieved it was only seaweed! One weird experience. This is the barrel with the nearby kelp.

The other thing that happened in the sea over the last couple of days was I got bitten by some tiny insects on the front left of my neck. Like clumps of mosquito bites they are crazy itchy and look quite angry. Nothing that a scarf won’t conceal.

This evening we had dinner at Dixies. We haven’t been there for a while.

Home now and I’m ready for bed.

Psalm 95:1

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;  let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
