Saturday
Today I just had to keep an eye on my work email just in case something came in. It has been very quiet, so I’ve sent my last couple of emails and I’ve put my work auto email on to take effect from 5pm. I got back to work on Thursday 9th January 2020!
Today I went out to the Mall early and got a few chores done. It was so worthwhile because everything was quiet when I arrived and getting very busy as I left.
I spent more of this morning sorting out one or two more things in the cottage. We are now ready for the family. Granny cottage lounge…
So yesterday evening Mike and I went down to the building site and we made the final assault on the stairs. We did it! We forged through rock and stone, through sand and grit and we uncovered the stairway! Before and after…
On Monday David lent a hand, but he was busy the rest of the week. Altogether it took us 9 hours but that was spread out from Monday to Friday. Our injuries are minor. My legs are covered with bruises and the ligament on the inside of my right elbow is still tender from carrying bucket loads of stone. Mike was bitten by something and has a cluster of angry-looking welts as a result. But we can climb the stairs now. There will be one rule when the builders return:
NO MORE BLOCKING THE STEPS!
Here are the stairs looking up from the bottom….
It brings joy to my heart to see them again. When we had finished, Mike and I sat on the second level and admired our work…they look really sandy, but they are walk-able. So many rocks!
That was looking down from the second level. This is looking seaward…all this hard work is for this…
I think it will be worth it. But I will still miss our current house. Mike and I were talking last night about this house. It holds a life time of memories. We raised our family here. We have been jubilant here, we have mourned here. It has been a refuge and a comfort. When we move to Echo, there will be new and different memories to create. Elsie will not know this house. She will grow up only remembering Echo as being where her grandparents live. It’s a blessing that we have this opportunity.
Julian is on the plane. We will go pick him up shortly. I’m on leave and am beginning to feel it.

God, we thank You and praise Your glorious Name!
Amen!
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
