Hurt People, Hurt People

3pm

In my prayer time this morning, a few things that I have learnt came to mind.

You cannot control people. I have tried to control people – I’ve raised two children. You only need to be a parent to know this is true.

There are two sides to every story. It’s easy to judge people and their actions before actually hearing their side of the story.

Hurt people, hurt people. Usually those who lash out at others have in some way been hurt. I have been hurt and I have hurt. When you ask God to heal the hurt, it halts the vicious cycle.

My journey through the Gospel of John continues. A couple of verses I’ve not really taken cognisance of are John 12:10-11 which says,

“So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and putting their faith in Him.”

Following Jesus comes at a cost. Lazarus gained a second chance at life when Jesus raised him from the dead. He must have felt a bit invincible. His life was secure, or was it? Not long after he had come back to life, Lazarus was living in fear for his life as the chief priests – the religious men of the day – made plans to kill him.  It is not easy to follow Christ. Difficulties, challenges and maybe even death threats will come our way. The only thing to do is to keep focused on Christ. Let there be less of us and more of Him.

The day began with scrambled egg for breakfast with a few added extras…

Nom!

After the show, I did some work and then headed off to Cape Town to see Granny. It took MUCH longer than usual as there are road works on the M3…eventually, we were at a standstill…

At a standstill on the M3

Just for the record, when driving in the long queue on the M3, try get in the left lane…it’s faster…well it was today…I was in the right lane!

Got to Granny and we went walkabout, ending in the garden, where she ooh’ed and aah’ed over the roses…for good reason…

I asked her if she is happy and she said she is…
