House Special Projects

Friday

Today was the day…

I got one of the house special projects finalized. There are 4 of them – little things that are not essential to the build but are great to have. The first was putting the Bible in the foundations which we did months ago.

The other three are:

  1. Time capsule which I got the cylinder for today.
  2. The year 2020 put in concrete on the side of the house.
  3. The builder’s name on a tile on our balcony.

It is this third one that I worked on today. I went to my old friend and colleague, Wayne Turner’s house and he put his laser cutter to good use…this is the test run…

The builder doesn’t know this is happening. I’ve just told him I have a special tile and want it on the corner of our balcony. He quizzed me about its size and I just told him it’s the same tile, just modified. He asked how I did it to which I replied, “I have friends!” I hope to get it back tomorrow.

The year 2020 was etched in one place, but it looked pretty awful, so I told the plasterer I didn’t want it there and explained where I wanted it, that I wanted it straight and I wanted all the numbers the same size. (Now you can imagine why it looked bad!) We’ll see if he gets that right.

The time capsule I’m going to need to do some work on. I’m putting a family photo in but after recently finding those old family photos of Mike’s great great grandfather, it would be cool to get copies made of those as well. These will be going in…the bottom one (Motorola) I made good use of back in the day!

I could also get some photos of the house in progress developed and add those. Perhaps the time capsule will be a work in progress and will be completed after we’ve moved in.

I have not answered the Storyworth questions lately, but I have the website bookmarked and will sit down soon and answer a whole batch of them. With the build, it’s been off my radar.

This morning, I went to gym and swam 40 lengths. It was great!

Today we remember 9:11. Hard to believe it’s 19 years ago.

Weekend. Mike will work tomorrow. I’m going on a hike to the quarry with Sue.

Psalm 9:18

God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish.

The best is yet to come.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.
