Home Sweet Home!

1-18pm

5km walk before breakfast! That’s what we did this morning. We drove into Hermanus, parked close to the Windsor Hotel and walked to the point overlooking the new harbour. It was a beautiful morning without a breath of wind…

No a breath of wind

We set off with our destination in the distance…

Destination in the distanceIt included going over the boardwalk which is fabulous…

On the boardwalkYou also walk above Ficks Pool….

Ficks poolAnd then the path winds down to sea level. It very much reminded us of the Otter Trail. If you want a bit of easy walking training for a hike, the Cliff Path route is ideal…

Like the otter trailAfter this the walk takes you back up to the cliff top…

Early morning gloryUntil eventually you arrive at the New Harbour…

The New HarbourWhere I perched on a rock…

Overlooking the harbourOne of the highlights of our short weekend away has to be dinner last night. After much debate about where to eat, we found Annie’s Kombuis…it’s tucked away down a little alley but we are so glad we found it…

Annies KombuisIt serves authentic SA food and it was really good.

MenuWe both had the ox-tail which is probably the most delicious we’ve ever eaten…

DinnerIf you are ever in Hermanus, look up Annies!

And so we have arrived home to a quiet, peaceful home. I have just a tad more show prep to do for tomorrow.

I put up on FB yesterday, horrible news of my dear friend Debbie. She & I were absolute BEST friends from the age of 6, right through primary school and into early high school before the fractured society of Zimbabwe took its toll and we moved in different directions. We have kept in touch over the  years. Yesterday, she had a serious horse riding accident. Apparently her young horse tripped over a barrel while jumping in the warm up arena at a riding clinic. She landed face first breaking a collarbone and cheek bone and suffering a serious blow to the head.  Many people started praying for her. The doctors thought she had swelling on the brain…rushed her into surgery to put in a probe only to find no swelling at all. They have put her in ICU and she is now in a medically induced coma. They hope to start bringing her out of it at about 4pm this afternoon. The latest is that she has opened her eyes and won’t let go of her good friend, Beryl’s hand. Please  pray for Debbie. She has had a really rough time over the last few months…including a riding accident in which she needed reconstructive surgery to her mouth; she was woken in the middle of the night with an intruder in her room; she has been through painful, hurtful heartache as well. Through it all, she came to faith in Christ. Now this has happened. All that I could think of was the words Joseph said to his brothers in Genesis 50:20  “As far as you’re concerned, you were planning evil against me, but God intended it for good…”

God is Biggest, Strongest, Wisest, Kindest than anything the world can offer. No matter what happens, He can and will make good on His promises to bring good from difficult circumstances.

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord”. (Romans 8:37-39)
