Hit & Run

The day began early. I had planned to go swim at the gym so just after 6-30am, I was in the pool doing laps. 60 minutes later, I showered and drove home. Mike was in from his run and he had a story to tell.  His running (he calls it shuffling) has progressed from lapping the 400m block to jogging up Blackhill. Also known as Glencairn Expressway, it rises 139 vertical metres – I think that’s from the Glencairn side so from Sun Valley it’s not quite as bad but still for a self-professed ‘shuffler’, it’s a challenge. Mike ran up to the top and then turned round and ran back down again. He was running down on the right side of the road into oncoming traffic. Two cyclists were cycling up the road towards him. With the steep incline, they were not going fast. A taxi came up the road and did not even attempt to avoid the cyclists, driving very close in, the side mirror rammed into one of them, throwing him off his bike. The mirror crashed to the ground. The taxi carried on going. Mike saw the whole thing. He immediately stopped to find out if the cyclist was okay. He was grazed, bruised and shocked, but nothing seemed broken.  His bike was okay as well. Mike told him to take the broken side mirror with him as evidence. His friend phoned the police. The taxi was gone.  Seeing the guy was okay, Mike continued on his way.

What a shocking thing to happen. It happened so fast, so unexpected and seemingly deliberate.

Julian arrived at 8-30am and we went to Foodbarn Deli for breakfast before taking him to the airport.

The rest of the day was relaxing. David arrived home. Stacey and I chatted on the phone. We went to church in the evening.

I also downloaded some more photos from my cell phone from yesterday’s visit to the aquarium. This was my close up of the shark as it drifted by. There were three sharks. One quite small. One very fast and then this one that would glide by very slowly. Just check those teeth.

This time he freaked me out because he looked at me…

A couple more from Mike’s camera…

Chilling at the penguin park…

Clowning around with clown fish…finding Nemo!

Outside, it was a beautiful day…

View from the restaurant…

Good to have a record of this day.

Deuteronomy 1:31

You saw how the Lord your God cared for you all along the way as you travelled through the wilderness, just as a father cares for his child.

In the wildernesses of life, God is close and caring.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
