I was thinking today that building this house must be a highlight of our life. It’s certainly something big and adventurous. There is no doubt that building can be stressful and not without challenges but at the moment we are enjoying it. Mike is working very hard. Today we went to the site at about 7:30am. We thought the power was going off at 8am, but got the load shedding schedule wrong. It went off at 9am and Mike completed some of the work that needed to be done. Today the lower ground floor shower got some tiles…
Not a very good picture, but this is what the lounge of the ground floor looks like right now…
Meanwhile, the bedroom next door is going to be a great place to wake up…
On the first floor, the columns have had the shuttering taken off and the beam boxes constructed…

So good progress is being made and we are grateful.
The other thing that happened today is we swapped out the tile for 90m2 of our floor. Instead of the 600mm x 600mm we are have on the lower ground floor and ground floor which looks like this…
…we are having more a wood look…it’s still a tile…looks like wood with none of the problems that go with laminate flooring which we were considering…
It’s going in our lounge/kitchen, bedroom, Mike’s study and passage. The square tile is going in the entrance area, scullery and bathrooms. It goes with our paint colour, with our Granite and with the original tile, so we are happy with our decision.
