Helga Working at Her Computer

Tuesday

Today was the day…

It rained and rained and rained. This is winter in Cape Town. We have had such a dry winter thus far and it seems to be ‘catch up’ time.

Mike and I did  manage to get out to walk to Fish Hoek. This time we went up the hill and down the path between Highway and Hillside so these photos are going the other way than we usually do…

We decided to walk to Valyland. On the way back, we split up. I suggested my way would be faster. Mike said his way would be shorter and therefore quicker. The rule was we were not allowed to go too fast. I took off trying to dawdle, but eventually there was some light drizzle and I started walking a little faster as one does when it starts to rain. As I descended my route’s final hill towards Echo, I kept expecting to see Mike, but he didn’t appear and when I arrived at the start of Echo, he was just starting up the hill below. I was surprised. I got home and one of the guests was standing in front of the cottage enjoying the view. I had a chat with him and while I was in conversation, Mike arrived and we ascended the stairs together. No wonder I beat him. Turns out he stopped at the shop to buy a chocolate!

As the afternoon progressed, the rain came down in heavier showers, so we were grateful for the exercise we got. Mike took a photo of me working at my computer.

It’s the one thing that people in the northern hemisphere do not understand. We don’t build houses with central heating. We didn’t even consider that when we built this house. These cold and rainy days come and go. We are just having a cold spell!

Jeremiah 10:23

Lord, I know that people’s lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
