3pm
After yesterday’s guilty indulgences, today I have been more controlled, passed on the sushi and increased the protein. I’ve also forced myself to stay awake. The afternoon nap results in me going to bed way too late (10-30pm last night), which means I only get 5 hours sleep. Fatigue is the order of today! I’ll pass on an hour’s walk and wallow in the pleasure of yesterday’s. I left home at about 4-11pm and soon passed the recently mowed field…
From there I walked past the Fish Hoek sports fields….
…that’s on the one side of the road…the dunes and path to Peers Cave are on the other….
I took a shortcut along a path next to Peers Village…
And after cutting through another gap in the houses, I soon arrived at the road parallel to the Silvermine wetlands – the golf course was just in sight…
So close and yet so far. It is impossible to get through the reeds and water, so you need to walk further on and then take a path off the road…
….which soon arrives at the bridge…
From there, I cut through Clovelly…
…and up the path which leads to the Clovelly Steps. A few months ago this was a raging river…
The last part of the path is now very overgrown…
Pretty hey?! It took me exactly an hour, but that included a stop to take a phone call! I found Mike practicing…
Lol….that was actually him just messing around with a very unique and ineffective golf swing! He did take it seriously some of the time…
We went to the clubhouse for some refreshments…
Huge jugs of cola tonic and sprite zero. And they had complimentary popcorn!
Not that I had much…I was all sushi’ed out to feel like more starch. With views like this, no wonder people want to play golf.
Mike loves to play golf, I love to blog, so we are going to visit golf courses in the Western Cape and start a golf blog! It’s going to be our ’empty nest’ project! Watch this space.
The Bible is full of people who rose above their circumstances. Their actions teach us how to respond to difficulties we face…
One of them is the account of Jacob going to meet his long-estranged brother Esau, with whom he had not had contact for 20 years. Jacob had sent a message to Esau to say he was on his way home. Esau responded by coming to meet him with 400 men! That sounds a bit like a threatening army and Jacob was terrified! Genesis 32:7 “In great fear and distress, Jacob divided the people with him into two groups…” vs 9 “then Jacob prayed…” vs 10 “I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness You have shown your servant. I had only my staff when I crossed the Jordan, but now I have become two groups.” Amidst Jacob’s fear, he suddenly saw and acknowledged all that God had done for him. When you face difficulties, reflect upon what you have and remember God has not abandoned you. He has been with you these last 20 years (and more!). He always has been faithful to you & that will never change! Trust Him today.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
Gratitude Pic…I appreciate the hands that made and delivered this tea to me, while I was doing today’s blog…
It was a very good cuppa tea! In fact I’m feeling extra special, because Stacey came and waxed my legs for me. Two very special children and a wonderful son-in-law who shared his liquorice with me! 🙂 I LOVE liquorice, but it is SO high in carb, only tiny bits will do!
