Because Easter falls on different days each year, it’s good to remember when they happen. Today, Friday 19th April 2019 is Good Friday. The holiest day of the year, the day we remember the death of Christ.
Justin Holcomb said, “Good Friday marks the day when wrath and mercy met at the cross. That’s why Good Friday is so dark and so good.”
The day Jesus died for us.
While I always feel the bitter sweetness of this day, it is not the only day of the year that I acknowledge the death of Jesus Christ. Every single day, that act of love upon the cross impacts each breath I breathe. It is only because of Him – that I know Him, that I have the assurance that one day when I take my last earthly gasp, it will usher me into a new life, one that is far better than the crumbs on which we nibble here on this fragment of creation. We can only imagine in the tininess of our minds what that will be like. My heart beats in knowledge that at its stopping, life will really only begin.
Good Friday 2019 was a very quiet day for us. We woke, had coffee, read our Bible and prayed.
At 11am we met Julian and David for brunch. We came home and had a quiet afternoon. I slept. I read and I watched a bit of TV.
And now it’s almost time for dinner.
Nehemiah 1:5
O Lord, God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps His covenant of unfailing love with those who love Him and obey His commands.
Thank You for this day.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
