Golf and a Puff Adder

Today, Mike and I headed to Simon’s Town for a round of golf. It’s been too long since we were there. They can’t be accused of wasting water on the fairways. They are keeping what they have for the greens. The course, while dry and brown is not  too bad and we enjoyed playing. This is the 5th tee box…what a view….

The weather was great.

As we got to the 7th hole, I had parked Mike’s golf cart and was walking back to the green when I suddenly spotted something and did a quick side-step to the left. There snoozing in the sun was a small puff adder…

I would have walked inches from it had I not done my little dance. A few other golfers were around, so we all peered at it and as they were about to pass the clubhouse, one of them reported it to the manager. A few holes later, we saw a guy walking randomly up a fairway with a bucket and some tools saying “where’s the 7th green?” Ah, the snake man had very quickly arrived. We were not far from the 7th, so we took him over there and he very efficiently swept Mr. Puff Adder into the container…

Safely in the bin…

Quite a lovely specimen and by now is he back on the mountain.

The golf concluded we had breakfast and went home. We had teed off at about 7-30 and got home around 11am.

#564 of my 1000 thanks is being back walking the golf course with Mike. He didn’t play badly at all. He went round in 83.

After a rest I headed off down to the gym. I trotted 5km (under 38 minutes) and then swam 32 lengths. I have got a long way to go!

The rain last night was joyous occasion. I It was sufficient to have our big tank (2000 litres) overflowing and the other 1500 litres is almost full.  We are so grateful for the rain. It was short-lived, but just such a blessing on this, Cape Town’s hottest and driest month of the year. If we use about 50 litres a day of the tank water for flushing and washing, just what we have will last more than 2 months; that’s if we don’t have a drop more rain, which is highly unlikely.  We should get at least a little rain in the next 5-6 weeks. We continue to pray.

Mike took advantage of it. He went outside at 11pm and washed my study windows. Now I can actually see out of them, something I haven’t be able to do for the last month! That’s the 2000 litre tank that is overflowing.

Isaiah 30:21

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, “this is the way; walk in it.”

Thank you Lord for your guidance.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
