Giving Up Is Not An Option

That’s what I said to Mike this morning.  I’m advertising for teachers who may want to go and teach Maths or Science high school in Abu Dhabi. We’ve got almost enough for the Johannesburg interviews. We’re doing okay in Durban, but Cape Town is a disaster! I need 15 and I think I have 5 for sure!

I made myself another mega cappuccino and came back to work with the words rolling off my lips, “Giving up is not an option!” I’ll push on. Hopefully, we will have a whole bunch more suddenly arrive from somewhere.

Even since I’ve written the above, I’ve had another applicant get on the list, so all is not lost. 🙂

Today was a significant day in that David submitted his Masters thesis. Now he waits for the outcome! Boom! Masters complete!

#230 of my 1000 thanks is that David pressed on and got it done! Giving up was not an option.

My day begins at about 6-30am and during the week, on my waking, the first thing that comes to mind is my routine. Make coffee, do my Bible reading and have a time of prayer and then do my exercise routine. After that I start work, which on a Monday is usually quite gruelling as a lot of messages and emails  have come in over the weekend. It quite often takes me about 6 or 7 hours just to get on top of the email.

I nipped out to the shop to buy milk and then made dinner before coming back to my desk to finish this entry.

It’s always good to have a goal in life. One of the things about  my current position is that it’s made up of 3 or 4 smaller goals, spread throughout the year. All the little components add up. But while I am called to perform this job for such a time as this, the real goal is what happens at the end of my life.

Philippians 3:14

I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

We are all gifted in different ways but not all off us are called to fulfil ministry work. I certainly did that during my time on CCFm, but now God has lead me a different route.  I want to help people and somehow touch their lives in a practical way. By showing kindness to those I encounter on my current journey, perhaps they will sense a difference and seek out the Author of love and compassion.

After all, God has gifted me with the ability to do what I am doing – He gave me this job. My part is to be faithful and do my best for His glory.

That’s what I am here for. Giving up is not an option. Willingly, happily, enthusiastically and gratefully, I press on!

These are the days!

Keep the smile going!

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
