This morning when we were at the ship gym, we saw two amazing pods of dolphins. They were right in front of the ship. The gym has one of the best views and I watched the second pod swim and dive towards the right of the ship and disappear from view. It was a spectacular sight and hope to see more in the next several days. The other thing we saw briefly today from our balcony was flying fish. The sea is so calm. We are moving slowly down towards the equator and the sea has been very still. We have seen some ship life …
This is where we are currently….
We are still in the Gulf of Aden which will soon be the Arabian Sea. I’m not sure when the Arabian Sea gives way to the Indian Ocean. We are told that the sea temperature is still 30C but the air temperature today is a cooler 28.
We went to a talk this morning on the history of the MSC which was very interesting. One of the things spoken of was the epaulets worn by the staff and then mentioned that the one work by the Master (top captain) of the ship had a circle with a crown. He’s the only one with the crown. We walked out of the theatre and through the coffee shop and there was guy with the crown! In the photo below, he’s the one in the middle…
Apart from the delightful dolphins and flying fish, there was something else we saw from the gym the other day. It raised the exact opposite emotion. There appeared to be three rowing boats in the middle of the Red Sea. They seemed to be filled with refugees trying to get from (probably) Eritrea to the Asian coast. The first country they would encounter would be Yemen and that is not very hospitable towards refugees, so I’m not sure where exactly they were headed. It was devastating. I couldn’t see how many people there were, but there seemed to be 10 or more per boat. While the sea was calm and warm, it was worrying knowing they were there in the middle of the ocean pretty much at the mercy of the elements. That night as I lay in my warm and comfortable bed, I thought of them and prayed for their safety.
Jeremiah 33:3
‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’
A wonderful verse I encountered this morning.
#451 of my 1000 thanks is for variety. So many different kinds of everything. Different fish, different mammals, different food. God’s generosity knows no bounds.
These are the days!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
