First Cancellation

Friday

Today was the day…

Our guests cancelled! This is the first cancellation – I think we’ve had about 12 or 13 guests. I had whatsapped her yesterday saying we were looking forward to having them. She wrote back late last night to say they would be arriving at 3:30pm. Then this morning when we got back from our swim, there was a cancellation through Airbnb and a message from her saying it looked like the weather wouldn’t be great, so they were cancelling. If you cancel on the day of arrival, you have to pay for that night, so we only lost half the fee.

But there’s a positive spin-off. Julian has been friends with a guy called Paul for decades. When Julian left Zimbabwe to come to South Africa, Paul was very good to him and Julian has always appreciated that. Paul now lives in the UK, but his daughter lives in Cape Town. When she heard about the cottage, she asked if she could come stay (free-bee!). Because of Paul, Julian said okay but it would be last minute – if we had a cancellation. As that happened this morning, I got hold of Julian, Julian got hold of Karen and she is coming with her daughter and grandson.

This morning the sea was slightly warmer than yesterday and the swell a little bigger. I think my swim watch measures the swell and adds it to the distance, because I swam about 1.5km and got credited with more than 2km! Rain is forecast, but I don’t think it’s going to be too rough. We are heading for summer, so most of the big storms have come and gone. That’s not always the case – history tells us there have been some pretty mighty storms later in the year, but they are not common.

My blog is being done early because I’m keen to work on the Little Lookout Airbnb page. I’m going to try get it listed pretty soon. More photos…

I’ve got enough now to complete the profile. It’s taken a while for us to get to this point, but it is so very satisfying to have done so.

Weekend! No stress.

Isaiah 40:29

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
