Father’s Day With Our Father

ItMike hitting golf balls‘s a beautiful day in Cape Town. The sun is shining and the sky blue. Mike & David have gone off to hit golf balls. I stayed behind and made lunch. When they get home, there will be some tennis to watch. Kevin Anderson in the Queens final. First South African in thefinals at Queens since 1993. That’s going to be a good match to win. On the golf scene, Brandon Grace is tied 1st in the US Open, currently being played on an abysmal course, that has lead to the downfall of some of golf’s greats. The course has been highly criticized by Gary Player. I’m glad he spoke out. We expect something better. Louis Oosthuizen is also snapping at the leader’s heels. While we won’t stay up to see the finish, we’ll be following it.

So it’s nice to do something different on Father’s Day. Gail Durr sent me a poem her husband wrote 14 years ago, for Father’s Day. It has deeper meaning than a usual Father’s Day poem.

FATHER’S DAY WITH OUR FATHER

(written by Gavin Durr by God’s Grace) 17 June 2001

No mind can comprehend … just how great is Thy name …

Throughout time immemorial … it has always been the same …

Our Father in Heaven … Hallowed be Thy Name …

Your name is so mighty … magnificent … words cannot contain …

Thy beauty … Thy Grace … Thy Holy refrain …

Today mere mortals … celebrate Father’s Day too …

The fathers we celebrate … can’t stand up to You …

The Fathers we celebrate … are only there by Thy Grace …

For you’ve shown us Your love … You’ve shown us your face

They’re there by the fact … that they’ve fathered a child …

Dear Lord You’ve fathered us all… You’ve fathered mankind …

You fathered a child … Called Jesus our Lord …

You predicted He’d come … You said in your Word …

He was beaten … He was battered … He was killed for our sake …

You gave us Your Son … such a sacrifice to make …

Words cannot describe … our thanks to You Lord …

You’re the Father of all Fathers … and we want to record …

How great is Thy Name …

Forever … our Father … forever the same …

Psalm 103:13
As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him;

Have a wonderful day.

God bless you!
