Facebooklessness…

12-29

There’s a new word for you!  I’ve been off FB since 8pm on Wednesday night. At midnight tonight my first “FB Fast” ends. It’s been quite interesting seeing my response to no facebook. Initially, I didn’t miss it at all. But then as I said in yesterday’s blog, when I was at Bible study I heard someone talking about something they had seen and heard on FB and it made me feel out of touch. I was missing ‘news’ that I should have known about. On a normal Saturday, I would have definitely been on FB, so this morning I sort of missed it a bit, finding out what people are doing today! Could I live without FB? Absolutely! I think after this little stint, I may think a bit more about how much time I waste on FB and be quicker to get out of it and do stuff a bit more profitable. It’s been a great exercise! Thanks JP Carelse of the CCFm Lunchbreak for suggesting it.

Last night Mike & I were invited to Kaleidoscope in Claremont. It was  a very pleasant evening with some great talent being showcased by Glenn Robertson. He’s onto something there, a joining of a secular enjoyment with a Christian involvement in an environment that is comfortable for both non Christian and Christian folk.

One of the fantastic Cape Town talents is the son of Trevor Sampson, Jason who has released his own CD. He’s weeks away from leaving South Africa for Berkley College in the US for 4 years majoring in music and performance. His instrument is drumming….

I came home with a bundle of CDs for CCFm. It was a great evening. Thank you Rob and Wendy for treating us!

So after a very late night, I was up early-ish this morning, first to take breakfast to Granny and then to head off to my last meeting for Living Hope. With my ‘Granny duties’ increasing, it’s time to step down from that privilege and focus on doing the best for Mike, Granny and Rise and Shine.

This is our last weekend with Adrian and Stacey. I need to defrost the roast and tomorrow we will have our final Sunday lunch for what could possibly be a full 9 months. I don’t like ‘goodbyes’. I try and protect my heart from such things! This is another season in our family’s life and we will enjoy their travels from this side of the world, celebrating & supporting them come what may! Good times are to come. And we know the Author of it all…

Nehemiah 9:6 You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.

Thank you, Jesus.

This afternoon, sleep! Tonight, dinner with my amazing husband, who has no job card today! 🙂

God bless you!

In His grip,

Helga xx 🙂
