Mike is so very easy to please! In fact he loves to say Mother’s Day is for when Mother gets spoiled. Father’s Day is for Father to spoil Mother! He did make me coffee this morning, but that was where it stopped. He went off to hit golf balls and I cleaned the kitchen and got his (very easy) request cooked – Bangers and mash. David peeled the potatoes and made dessert. We also had broccoli, carrots and corn on the cob. For dessert – strawberries and cream. Such an easy day! After lunch, David and I played our own version of 30 seconds and Mike had a nap.
I went for a walk and found myself thinking of #329 of my 1000 thanks – my sense of smell. The scent of flowers and the aroma of braai met me as I walked. The other night when I got up at 3am to look for the cat during the rain, the wonderful smell of rain falling was just so exhilarating. I appreciate my sense of smell.
After he woke up, Mike and I watched a Grand Design – it was about a couple who were building a glass cube of a house in central London. The wife often mentioned how hard it was to do and that there is a lot of pain and work to get to the final product. Quite often our (Mike and my) conversation meanders to the mountainside plot of land we have (with Julian) and the plan we have to build on it. It will be no simple task. By the time the plans are complete and the first spadeful of soil is turned, the truth be told, thousands of hours of thinking and conversations would have already been put into it. And lots of prayer. We can’t do this without God going before us and not only providing the plan, but the finance to get it done properly. It’s not going to be easy as there is a house right in front of it so there is no road access.
This is the land being cleared in April 2016. As we have not had a lot of rain, not a lot of bush has grown back.
It is going to be a challenge, but God willing, we will one day have a house on this land.
More on my mind these days is the fact that in just over three months time we head out-of-town for a month. We are looking forward to eight nights in Italy and a whole lot more on a ship. I’m taking my laptop and will continue my blog as we visit new places.
This has been something I have also been praying a lot about.
Proverbs 16:9
In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.
That’s my prayer, that God will establish my steps!
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
