10-05am
Today was the FH Methodist Church Annual Elsies Peak Hikeathon. This is the 4th year they’ve had this epic event. The idea is to climb Elsies Peak as many times as possible between 7am & 2pm. The person who does the most climbs gets the trophy….
I got up just before 6am (early for a Saturday!) and made myself a hearty breakfast…
By 6-45am, I was at the start…
And soon, the merry band were on their way…
There was very low cloud, which made it beautiful weather for a ramble…
We moved upward towards a very misty summit…
Valerie Gail just below the beacon…
The sun trying to break through…
It was very damp up there, and quite cold. We started back down and soon came out of the mist nearer to Fish Hoek…
And past this amazing pincushion protea bush which was lavishly fed by a waterfall right behind it…
It’s an easy walk, but very wet at the moment. We left some very energetic guys going up and down multiple times. By the time we got down, David and Anton were going up for the 4th time! Good training for David who runs the 42k Cape Town marathon in a couple of weeks time.
Psalm 102:25 Of old You laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands.
And now it’s time to kick back and enjoy the weekend!
God bless you loads!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
