Due Diligence

Tuesday

Dear Elsie

As you grow up you’ll eventually hear about the term ‘Due Diligence.’ I looked up the definition.

It’s quite good to know because as we have a couple of units on Airbnb and as a result there are guests coming up and down the stairs, we need to exercise due diligence to reduce the chance of accidents.

But today, I did Personal Due Diligence and made my biennial visit to the Gynae. Every two years makes it do-able. The biggest issue I’ve got is related to my bone density. I had my first bone density test in 2015 & the next in February this year. So in those 8 years, there has been a 2% deterioration in my lower back and a 6% in my hips. You would have thought the 6% would have worried the doctor but not so. He was more worried about the 2%. It’s no osteoporosis, but it could turn into that. He said I can’t turn it around, but I can prevent it from getting worse.

I’ve been taking this variety because it apparently doesn’t affect cardiac health which other calcium varieties might. The calcium will prevent bone degeneration.

The other thing that will help prevent further deterioration is weight-bearing exercise. Swimming is not weight-bearing. Climbing our stairs is, so to hike and walk and climb stairs – all good for me and to be continued for as long as possible. Keep moving.

Talking of keeping moving, it’s something David is not doing! He has been feeling some effects of his medication. His long covid symptoms are more intense, which is a good thing. We don’t know how this will end, but we do expect he should go from bad to worse and then finally to better. Despite his physical health, he is in good spirits. Next week he is due for more blood work.

Good verse for David

Psalm 119:50
My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.

It’s not about now – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Gran xx 🙂
