Cruising Down Italy

Sunday 8th October 2017

The first part of our cruise is down the Adriatic Sea all the way down Italy and at this time we are just bruising its heel…

Our destination is Greece where tomorrow we see the origin of the Olympic games. We have a planned excursion at Katakolon. It’s a tiny place with a population of only 600 (so our lecturer said today!). Tuesday is Crete where we have no official excursion but plan to disembark and see the sights. Tomorrow at 6-15pm, the lecturer will give us tips on what to expect at that stop and we can get some ideas of the quickest (and cheapest) way to get around. Useful to have this inside information.

This morning we woke up at about 6-45am and by 7-05am were at the gym. We put in about an hour of exercise before having a snack and heading back to our cabin for a shower. Then we went for a late proper breakfast. this was our breakfast view….

At 10-30, we went to the lecture on Greece and then this afternoon got in the queue to clear passport control ahead of our trip to Israel, which is on Friday. I don’t think I will get to post a blog on Friday as it will be about a 14 hour day.  Saturday will be almost as taxing as we are going to Petra and that will be a lot of walking. But I will catch up and post the news as I can. It’s great to have it as a record of my life, so in the years to come, I can look back and enjoy the memories.

#440 of my 1000 thanks is that I go the internet sorted today. I am also on whatsapp which makes me very easily accessible to my family and close friends. 🙂

It’s a bit trickier getting photos on my computer, so I’ll work on that for future blogs.

We came on board with low expectations. So many people complained about the food on the ship, but so far it’s been varied and excellent. I don’t know how people can complain. Maybe it gets a bit dull towards the end, but when I think what we eat at home, we can’t complain – the van Niekerk menu doesn’t vary that much either!

This evening we have a sit down dinner and then have booked to a musical at 7-45pm. I promise to post more photos next time.

Colossians 4:2

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx
