Cooler, Windier, Wetter…

2-58pm

Let’s start with last night! It went off really well. David’s Monday night group arrived and about 20 of us enjoyed his recital. The applause was great. All of us were there as fans of David, so there was none of this polite little clap clap clap!! The applause was loud, long and appreciative – it went on and on and on! It was fabulous! We certainly enjoyed it, even though, for David, it was an exam, with the examiners sitting at the back hearing if he made any mistakes. Of course for us, he didn’t make any! Having a crowd made the whole experience so much better! I couldn’t get a photo because there was too much light behind him.

Sooo, today has been cooler, windier and wetter than expected! This despite a magnificent sunrise…

Those clouds must have had a bit of rain in them, because there have been showers throughout the day.

Jack was  in the studio from 7-8am. After the show I did some work  before I had a 10-30 appointment which turned out to be a bit of a tea and a chat with Avril! Nice ‘work’ that!

Shop, then home, where the puzzle is coming along slowly, but nicely…

You can see we have left the hard parts for last!

Then, it was onto the big Christmas Cake Bake!  It is November 23rd and with Christmas a month on Friday,  the Christmas Cake has to be made.  This cake has been our standard Christmas Cake every year for the last two decades. I’ve made up to 7 a year so I’m pretty good at it. It’s made in three steps over three days, starting off small and getting bigger each day until you take it out the oven and go “WoW! To think I made THAT!”

What I’m going to do, is make a new page at the top of my blog and you can click on it to see how the cake’s  made. I’m passing on the van Niekerk family Christmas Cake recipe. It’s good to have traditions and things to pass onto the next generation. Granny taught me this recipe. I’ve passed it onto Stacey and so it will go.

It’s one thing to pass on a cake recipe, it’s an entirely more profitable pastime to pass on the principles of the Word of God, which have eternal value.

Deuteronomy 11:19 “Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Why?

So that you, your children and their children after them may fear the Lord your God as long as you live by keeping all His decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life. ” (Deuteronomy 11:2)

Good enough for me!

Happy baking!

In His grip,

Helga 🙂
