Comparing Myself To Myself

Whenever I walk into the gym, I see all sorts of people and it’s always difficult not to compare myself with them. Whenever I do, I am reminded that I must only compare myself to myself.  I’ve got a long way to go but I am not where I was a year ago. The best thing I can do is to keep going.

Next year my goal is to go have all my tests including bone density, cholesterol and HBA1C. It’s going to be very interesting to compare to what those numbers were last time I had them done.

In the meantime, I’m feeling stronger and more flexible than I’ve ever been before. I think I can say that.

Today has been a great day. I just love Fridays.  There’s not too much work to do and I have Bible study.

With Julian in town, we went out for dinner to the new Cattle Baron in Harbour Bay, Simon’s Town. Julian and I walked there. Mike and David met us there. We did not book, so it was good that we got there early. The place was quiet when we arrived but buzzing when we left…lovely view…

After dinner, we came home and then Stacey phoned. Yay! Next week we get to see them.

#788 of my 1000 thanks – my last thing at night friends – dental floss and toothpaste. I have to admit that I have not been a life long flosser – more like an intermittent one but I’m trying to make it a habit.

Gym:

  • 30 minute fast walk. I found if I pump the speed up to walking 9.21 km/hour , I burn 233 calories in 30 minutes and do 3.2km. (When I walk 9.32km/hour, I burn 156 calories in 30 minutes and do 3.14km.) There’s not much distance in it, but 77 more calories.
  • 30 minute Grid – heart rate was 141 (the last exercise was lying down).
  • 7 minute cycle cool down (I wrote an email and went over my usual 5 minutes!)
