Friday
Did I write about my cholesterol results? At the end of July I was called into see my GP about my cholesterol results. Everything was still raised (total cholesterol 7.7) and with all the heart disease in my family, he thought it would be best for me to go onto the dreadful statins! He gave me a prescription and I left. I actually went and got it filled. 10mg. But because I don’t like taking chemicals, I spent the last month cutting them in half and only having 5mg each day. One month has passed. This morning, I got up, went to gym and them immediately went to Dischem to pick up the new prescription and to have a fasting cholesterol test. Dischem opens at 8-30am and I was first in through the door. I went straight to the clinic, because I had been fasting since 7pm last night, had nothing this morning (not even coffee) and had been to gym for an hour, so I was ready to get this blood test done. Mike was on his way to Dischem at the same time.
The sister at the Clinic was there but she said they were not open and only open at 9am because they had staff training. I got the prescription filled (muttering as I went) and as soon as that was done, I messaged Mike to meet me at Sun Valley Pharmacy. That’s where we met, but lo, while the chemist was open, the clinic was not. It also only opens at 9am. I decided I needed to be patient so I sat down on the first chair and waited. I got on my cell phone to do some work because I was also supposed to be working. Mike decided to try Clicks clinic. A few minutes later, I got a message from Mike, “come quickly”. I dashed across to Clicks and there was Mike sitting in the chair being dealt with by a very nice nursing sister. I asked what time they opened. Mike said they also opened at 9am but this sister was kind enough to see us early. She didn’t mind.
Clicks won!
She pricked my finger and I left immediately to get to work. Mike sent me my results. Bear in mind, my last fasting cholesterol was 7.7 about 5 weeks ago and I have only been taking 5mg of statin a day.
(My HDL is 1.8 not 18). Mike’s result were pretty good too with a total now of 3.9. I find it is unlikely that my total cholesterol has come down from 7.7 to 5.3 in a month but that’s what it looks like. I’ll continue for another month and then test again and it seems like Clicks Longbeach Mall is the one that gets my support!
I am grateful.
Just for my own record, today we booked the flights for Egypt. That’s a story for another day but I want to register my gratitude to the Lord for finding us flights that were R7000 less (each) than they may have been.
2 John 1:3
Grace, mercy, and peace, which come from God the Father and from Jesus Christ – the Son of the Father – will continue to be with us who live in truth and love.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
