Christmas Eve In Swellendam

Early this morning, Mike & I drove through to Swellendam, making great time…2 hours 25 minutes. Low traffic volumes and easy driving conditions, especially through Somerset West.

The main reason for our early arrival was so that we could firstly breakfast with Adrian and Stacey and secondly that Mike could fit in 18 holes of golf. I walked the first 9 with him. He hit some pretty good shots…

Great shotAnd there were a few not so great shots!

Not so great shot

But it was a good practice round and he got 4 pars over the first 9. I left to come back and have tea with Stacey and collected him a couple of hours later.

Just before Swellendam, there is a farm, Tevrede – and that pretty much sums up this place. Here you can be content – satisfied. It’s quiet and peaceful. No traffic noise. No sirens. The odd dog barking in the distance. Trees rustling in the wind and miles and miles of rolling hills.  It very quickly seeps into my soul and tempts me into country life!

But no matter where you are in the world, there is a peace that passes understanding that can be yours. It comes out of presenting your requests to God. When we lay our lives, our dreams and desires, our needs, our wants and our anxieties before Him – when we submit entirely to Him – when we consciously allow Him to take control of everything we have – something happens. It’s supernatural and unexpected and it results in this…

Philippians 4:7

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

It’s not something that can be understood, but it is a special gift that God gives – peace.

And it is what I wish for you this Christmas.

God bless you with an abundance of peace.

Keep the smile going.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
