Catching up with Hannelie Groenewald

I haven’t written much about Hannelie Groenewald for a while. When you suffer the loss as big as she has suffered, the fact that life keeps going is surreal. Her loss was unimaginable and yet Hannelie has kept going. At the end of August she released this video which is so touching.

You can read more about what happened to the Groenewald Family here. It was 29th November 2014.

I wrote this piece 5 months after the tragedy.

Hannelie forgave those who killed her family. It’s hard to imagine how difficult that must have been. I wrote about that here.

A year after the attacks, Hannelie wrote this newsletter.

Regardless of what we go through, God is faithful.

Isaiah 54:10

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed”, says the Lord who has compassion on you.

In my journey to 1000 thanks, today is #24. It is health care. Someone very close to me landed up in ICU overnight last night and had first class care, with treatment that took a few hours but that God willing, will add 30 years to his life.

Don’t for a moment think that God is not behind that kind of care. He gives people knowledge and understanding and compels us to seek treatment at just the right time. It’s almost 5 years ago since Mike had bladder cancer for a week. I am very grateful for the exceptional medical care we have here in South Africa.

#25 is the lovely spring rain we have enjoyed today. We appreciate every drop.

These are the days.

Keep praying for Hannelie.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
