It is hard to believe that today at just after 8am, we received an SMS that said Mike’s passport with Schengen visa were ready for collection! So off he went to collect it and had the happy news that instead of getting it for 30 days, it’s valid for 3 years! It would have been for longer, except his passport expires in 2020.
That has to be #370 of my 1000 thanks is the Schengen arrived! Whoop! Whoop! His appointment was 12-20 on Wednesday. Just 48 hours later his passport is back in hand! Very grateful!
Another thing that happened this week for which I thanked the Lord was something relating to Julian and his books. He has a big consignment that has to be sorted in Cape Town, for which I have been collecting boxes. (I’m up to 70 boxes now!). Transporting the boxes from Rondebosch to our house was going to be a mission. While we were pondering it, Mike came up to my office yesterday morning and said, ‘why doesn’t he hire a bakkie?’ I googled Bakkie hire in Cape town and got this website: http://capetownbakkiehire.co.za/
They were really reasonable, so Julian went ahead and booked one. When I spoke to him yesterday evening he said it would work out okay except he was going to have to face a whole lot of traffic in getting to pick it up. When I asked the address, he said, Aiken Rd, Kirstenhof. Julian coming from Johannesburg doesn’t know where that is. I just couldn’t believe it. I was exclaiming and saying, “that’s crazy!” and he was replying “crazy good or crazy bad?” It’s crazy good. It’s about 20 minutes away and on the route to Rondebosch. What are the chances of randomly picking a bakkie hire company in Cape Town and getting that far down the southern suburbs? Only God could orchestrate that.
Nothing escapes His notice.
#371 of my 1000 thanks is for bakkie hire close by….it’s all coming together to get several tonnes of books from Cape Town to Johannesburg!
Today I had to write a hard SMS. Mavis has worked for us for years, coming when Granny was here and working part-time and then full-time and now only one day a week. Initially, the plan was that she would stop working for us when Mike retired, but in the end when he did retire, we kept her on once a week. At the end of May she went away for the month of June but never returned when she said she would which was first week of July. Then today, she phoned to say she was back and coming tomorrow. “No,” I said. Because I’m not sure of her understanding of spoken English, instead of phoning her back to explain, I sent her an SMS to say we no longer needed her – there’s just the two of us and we really don’t need any domestic help. I will give her severance pay. Mavis had a wonderful attitude and was very honest. I always appreciated that about her.
Proverbs 10:9
Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.
These are the days!
Keep the smile going!
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
