Burst Water Main

Thursday

Today was the day…

We woke up to no water. Actually, what had happened started last night around 10pm. I was winding down and was about to shower only to find there was very low water pressure. It soon dwindled to nothing. I asked on the street Whatsapp group if others also had no water and was told there was was a burst water pipe.

The Cottage currently has three guests and the Little Lookout has one. The Little Lookout is not so bad because that loo uses the tank water for flushing, but the Cottage doesn’t have that luxury. Mike went out and bought back 5 x 5l bottles of drinking water and we dropped them off at the Little Lookout and with David. The Cottage folk said they were fine.  While Mike was out buying water, I got dressed and walked down the road at 10:45pm to see where the burst pipe was. I found it outside an empty plot at 8 Echo.  Mike arrived a short while later and I was able to help him lug the water up the stairs. This morning we still woke up to no water! Sigh. I went down to the workshop and through to the tanks at the back and filled up two buckets of water and delivered them to the Cottage front door, Whatsapping the guy to say I’d put them there.  Then I walked to the burst water main again to see if anything had been done. The Water Department must have been there in the night because they had turned off the water and taped off the area.

By around 8am, the Water Department arrived and worked all morning first to find the break and then to repair it.

While they were working, I first worked and then met friends to celebrate Heidi’s 60th birthday. A lovely celebration.

When I got back, the water was on! That was a relief, but I can say I am now ready for bed… and it’s only 8:30pm!

2 Corinthians 9:8

God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
