Braai for breakfast, braai for lunch, braai for dinner!

4-34pm

Last night, David’s 21st went off really well! I think we fed about 44 people in the end and it seems a good time was had by all,  most of all David who was very happy how everything went! It was great to have all his friends around and to hear what many of them had to say about him. He clearly is very popular in the various circles in which he moves. A few characteristics were repeated over and over by different people – he is fun, he is funny and he loves God!

The highlight of the evening were undoubtedly the speeches…here are Jack, David, Steph and Madeleine, all close friends with David. They were all very entertaining!

One side of the crowd listening to Jack (I think)Praying for David…

About to light the candles…

My 21 year old…Winding down…

I think I finally put my head on the pillow at 1-15am!

This morning we were up in time to take Julian to the airport. David did that.  Stacey arrived with Adrian who felt like leftovers for breakfast, so after bidding farewell to Julian, we all got stuck into braai food. We have spent the entire day in recovery mode. It has been necessary! After a breakfast of braai, we had more later and Mike has just topped up!

Just one note, so you know :- half way through the speeches, water suddenly started pouring out down a gutter next to the patio, splashing one of David’s friends, Roy and his wife! Mike went off to investigate and found the geyser in the downstairs (Granny’s) bathroom had burst. So from that point on, we had no hot water downstairs. It is tomorrow’s problem!

Life in the van Niekerk house begins to return to normal! 🙂 The next major event that is to occur in my life is in a couple of weeks time when Stacey and I spend a day at a spa (Julian’s birthday gifts to us!). Looking forward to that!

When you have an exceptionally busy weekend with lots of work to be done before and after, it is important to have light moments. Mike & I had one of those today. Mike went outside to empty the braai barrels and I went out and joined him. I picked up the darts and started throwing them at the dart-board. Mike said, ‘okay, closest to the bullseye doesn’t have to make coffee.’ I threw a brilliant shot and got within millimetres from the bull. Mike threw and GOT IT!!!! How can that happen? !! Grrr! LoL. 🙂 I made coffee. We go back to work tomorrow tired, but satisfied!

Isaiah 40:28-31 28 Do you not know?  Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God,  the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary,  and His understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary   and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary,  and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD  will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;  they will run and not grow weary,  they will walk and not be faint.

Yes! That’s for us!

Have a fab week!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
