Beams

Wednesday

Today we got beams! This was yesterday…

This was today…

Beams…

There will be more and they will have to tie into the back of the house. This was us on the second level balcony last week…

And this is today…

Feeling a bit safer with bars behind us.

So the house is going up. We meet with Werner tomorrow about Mike’s Marvellous Spreadsheet that will keep us fiscally on track.

Back home, the birds are okay with green…

Last night I went to bed at 10pm and woke up at 2am. I finally fell asleep again around 4:30am! Yip! That was serious insomnia. I think it was because I took magnesium shortly before I went to bed. I’m not doing that again. So one of the things I got to thinking while I was awake was this house – 30 years of memories within these walls. There were four special moments that came to mind – all had to do with the garage!

With yesterday being the anniversary of my Mom’s entry to heaven, I was thinking about her. I remember one particular moment. She was staying with us and Mike and I went out.  She had said something to be before we left. Somehow, whatever she said, she felt it had been out-of-place and she had offended me. I can’t even remember what she said. It was insignificant to me, but big in her own mind. When we arrived home, as soon as we opened the garage door to enter, she was there. She came rushing up to me and gave me a big hug and apologised. I have never forgotten that and can still feel the hug.

The second memory was after my Mom had passed away and we arrived home from Johannesburg. As we drove up, Mike’s Mom was waiting in the driveway. I told her how terrible it was and we embraced. Another affectionate moment, frozen in time.

The third was when Stacey and Adrian arrived home from a year in SE Asia. Both had been ill while away (Adrian really very ill) and I had done my fair share of parental worrying. It was just so wonderful to have them back safe and sound and I poured all of that relief into this hug…so glad to have this photo…

The 4th memory was after Mike and I had a barney one morning. He went off to work and I was furious! I’m not sure where I was in the scheme of work, but I do know that mid-morning the doorbell went and when I opened the garage door to see who it was, there was a florist delivering a massive bunch of flowers from Mike. Hilarious that he went to work, phoned a florist, paid and got them delivered all within a couple of hours.

He’s a keeper!

I’ve worked at least 9 hours today. And after last night’s interrupted sleep, I’m ready to close the door on 29th January 2020. I lived it to its fullest!

Psalm 70:4

Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; and let those who love Your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified!”

Good words.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

Gym:

Mike and I walked to Valyland to look at paint. – 6km.

Braces:

1 year and 77 days. Today I phoned the professor  (surgeon) to make an appointment. They gave me Monday!! Then I wrote to the orthodontist and asked if I can pick up the cast on my way. I need to get a response from him and hopefully this will do it. I don’t know why he hasn’t let me know – and it makes me a little concerned that things are off track.
