Bad Truffles

Today has been a fabulous day – really enjoyable. But the main incident of the day was when I drove up to the house after taking Julian to the airport. There was Truffles in the front garden with a dove in her mouth. I jumped out the car and buzzed open the side gate to go and try save it. She was gone. Nowhere to be found. I came inside and went upstairs to put my bag down, when I heard Mike moaning at her. Oh dear. Mike had gone to put the kettle on. There was Truffles proudly tucking into a now very dead dove on the kitchen floor.  I whisked her up and she had no choice but to drop it. I took her outside and closed all the windows. Mike disposed of the poor bird. Using some jik, I mopped up the patch on the kitchen floor.

Truffles sat outside licking her chops.

Doves often sit on our balcony. Truffles does too. It’s not impossible that one of the doves dropped its guard and Truffles pounced.  It looks like butter won’t melt in her mouth.

She must be about 10 years old, I think.

We had brunch with Julian & David at Noordhoek Farm Village which was a change from our usual routine. Afterwards, Mike went back to Echo to hang a picture. I stayed home and tidied up. Then I had a Skype call, after which Julian arrived for me to do the airport run.

#890 of my 1000 thanks is for Chapman’s Peak.

We went that route,  enjoying the beautiful views of Cape Town. It’s one of the great pleasures I get out of taking Julian to the airport. Seeing Cape Town always makes me happy. I get such a kick out of it and I appreciate enormously that God allowed me to come here! What a privilege.

I am proudly Capetonian. If I have to pick a city where I can live while just passing through this life,  Cape Town will do very nicely thank-you.

Psalm 145:13

Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations.

Tonight I’m grateful. This weekend, Elsie was not well with a bit of a tummy bug, threw up, had the runs and had to go to be checked out. Today, she is much better and much happier. She’s 4 months old on Friday, so we go and visit!

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
