Sometimes things take time to mature in one’s mind. They need to be mulled over, discussed, thought about and investigated. With us, we do all the above and then shelve them for a few weeks. In fact, what really has happened is that we couldn’t figure out which is the best route to go and so we hit a brick wall and the whole idea stalled.
It’s for this reason that a short 45 minute meeting today was actually quite a landmark event. We met an engineer at the property where we want to build.
Here is Mike and Paul poring over the house plans and looking to see what would be required if they dug a massive hole where they are standing to create a second garage for the property.
So this is a step in the right direction. He gave us some really good ideas and lots of useful information and will email us details of who we can contact.
One step at a time.
Whenever I have looked at this place and pondered whether I would be able to live in it, it has always come down to the fact that it only has a single garage. We are so used to having 2 and walking from the garage directly into the house. Mike has his workshop and equipment easily available. We could not do that with a single garage. If we were going to develop the property and increase the size of the building , we would have to have more garage space. Until we do that, the whole process was not going to move forward.
The other thing is that this is not my project. It’s Mike’s and Julian’s so we all need to be in agreement.
Julian and I are the gungho, “let’s do it” people. Mike is the thinker. He does not rush these things. They have to be done properly and with care and thought so that we go in with our eyes wide open. That’s my wonderful husband. Mike’s diligent personality ensures the outcome is always going to be the very best.
I believe some time in the future, there may just be a massive hole where Mike and Paul are standing – it will eventually become a long tandem garage under the house.
Yes, today was a step in the right direction.

So 8, 9 & 10 of my 1000 thanks: we were away for two nights this last weekend and I forgot our toothbrushes.
8. Toothbrush and toothpaste! 🙂 It was a tough 12 hours with it!
9. Water – I really enjoyed gulping down a couple of glasses of fresh water after a hot work out.
10. Engineers!!! 🙂
These are the days!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
