Today, we followed our regular routine, except we went out for dinner for anniversary celebration round 2. This time it was to One Three Six, a new restaurant at Harbour Bay on the way to Simon’s Town.
They have a special on a Friday evening. Fillet steak with mash and veggies for R150. They don’t have a liquor licence so the meal comes with a complimentary glass (or half glass) of wine. Soft drinks are extra. The view is wonderful.
The food was great…
And the customers were happy…selfie
That was dinner.
During the course of the day, we had David come over because his new cell phone arrived. He explained that after his phone and wallet were stolen last week, the thief carefully went through his wallet. The considerate crook put all the cards in a plastic zip bank bag and tossed it out the window, keeping the leather wallet and a little money that was in it. It was a lady walking to church who spotted the bag and showed it to her employer who put the message out on Facebook. David’s life has now been put back together with the arrival of his new phone. It was good to see him.
This afternoon, I didn’t have much work to do, so I chilled while Mike went to the driving range. So the ‘long weekend’ vibe has certainly overflowed into our life.
We are now watching golf. Charl Schwartzel and Brandon Stone are both doing quite well. In tennis, Kevin Anderson is also still in the Rogers Cup (in Canada) both in the singles and doubles. His doubles partner is Djokovic which has made for some exciting tennis. They are through to the quarter finals. Djokovic is out of the singles. Kevin is through to the semi finals of the singles. Worth watching. I’m also still following Lewis Pugh. His is so inspirational. Tenacity.
#751 of my 1000 thanks is for ability and increasing agility.

We don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.

Gym
So today was a milestone. When I did my first Grid on 29th November 2017, I remember walking down the gym stairs with my legs like jelly and thinking to myself, “I don’t know if I will ever do that again!” It was a few weeks later that I tried again and eventually, it became a weekly part of my workout. After more time had passed, it became twice a week and then three times. I decided I would make it my goal to do 5 Grids a week. This week I got as close to that as I need to get. I did the Grid Monday & Tuesday – the Big 5 on Wednesday and the Grid again yesterday and today. I’m feeling no ill effects except my knees have definitely felt the strain. It’s taken 8.5 months to get this far. Tomorrow I will swim.
- 31 minutes on the spinning bike
- 30 minutes Grid – heart rate 148 at the end.
- 5 minutes on the regular bike
