Today we worked around the house. I did a lot of housework, a load of laundry and swept outside. I also did an hour of paid work and spent that time phoning applicants to find out if they received my emails. That was actually very profitable.
While all that was happening, Mike did a whole lot of cleaning out. He found some interesting things, this being one of the. Dating back to 2005, it was my old cell phone – a Motorola V360!
I loved this old phone. It was so cute and easy to handle. But now so old! Fun to have. I would love for us to find the original brick of a cell phone I had back in 1997 but I’m not sure if we still have it. It must have been a Nokia.
Mike is amazing at clearing out stuff. He is so methodical. I’ll scrub the shower (and the toilet) and do other housework before clearing out 31 years of stuff that has been accumulated from Mike, me, Stacey, David and Granny. It’s so cathartic shredding ancient documents and getting stuff in order. One of the things that we have done over the years is collect ROCKS! I’m serious. We have a couple of dozen rocks from all over the world. We have salt from the Dead Sea, rocks from Petra, Mount Vesuvius and other parts of Italy, a piece of wood from a German forest, a rock from the south coast of England and from a river in Switzerland – those are the ones that come to mind. Then there are rocks from all over South Africa as well. I’m loathe to toss them, so I am going to put them in a container and when we (God willing) eventually move to the mountainside, we will incorporate them into the patio. I’ll take a photo of them sometime and put it on here for posterity!
I went to gym this afternoon and had a good workout. This means that I am half way through my 6 week challenge of doing an hour a day for six days a week. Next week we are going to Stacey for a couple of days. She is turning 30, so I will only have 5 gym sessions. I am okay with that. My body will appreciate the extra day to rest.
While at gym today I identified #488 of my 1000 thanks – the mute/volume button on the TV. While on the treadmill, I watch the news and when the adverts come on, I simply mute. Actually, it’s not all that easy to hit the mute button while running, but I can reduce the volume. It was such a pleasure easily being able to get rid of the advertising noise pollution!
Today I started Daniel. I read the first day’s reading out loud to Mike. It ended about half way through chapter 2 and stopped on a cliff-hanger. Mike urged me to carry on. “Nope!” I said, “You’ll have to wait for tomorrow!” God reveals to Daniel the mystery of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in a vision one night. Before Daniel goes to tell the king, he spends some time thanking God and starts his declaration like this…
Daniel 2:20-21
“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are His. He changes times and seasons; He deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him.”
God is trustworthy. When we pray, He answers.
I’m so grateful.
These are the days!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
