A Meeting With A Monkey

2-49pm

Today, after our gym workout, the three of us who are trained by Mel – Sue, Riana and I – all went back to Sue’s house – so I could meet Prince! Prince is a common Marmoset monkey. He is only 3 & a half months old and Sue and her family have had him since not long after he was born. When Sue’s out, Prince usually hangs out on their dog, Tazz. Where Tazz goes, Prince goes, perched comfortably on his back where life is cool and safe. We got Tazz to stand still for long enough to catch this priceless picture…say hello to Prince… ON TazzI know!!!! He is so so cute!! And he is sharp, checking me out & keeping a beady eye on me. He was not so sure about my camera, but I managed to catch some precious photos. This one is of him playing with his tail…it gives you an idea as to how small he is…

Giving you an idea of how small he isHe loves climbing up arms and shoulders and heads…so cute perched on Sue’s shoulder…

On Sues shoulderAnd he liked hanging out by the mug…

Sue out the pool - Prince next to the mugAnd in it…

Prince in the mugAnd here he is on his net bed…

Prince in his netting bedI’ve never been so close to a Marmoset before. They are usually found in South America. Sue got hers from a pet shop after last November’s floods. They couldn’t keep them, so Sue took this one in. She has followed due process and acquired the necessary permit, which included an inspector visiting to ensure she met with the ‘home’ requirements. What a fun, busy member of the family. He won’t ever be big…fully grown, he should still be less than 20cm in length and only weigh 250g. His tail is longer than his body! What a treat to meet him! Thanks Sue!

Sue actually lives round the corner from the house that burnt down on Saturday. We drove past it and I took this very sad photo…

Burnt houseThe local word on the street is that a jogger running past at the time, heard a type of explosion and the house then caught fire. I googled ‘exploding gas bottles’ and the LPG website says their regular gas bottles don’t explode and most gas explosions are welding or industrial related. I am sure some investigation will be done to discover the cause.  Meantime, people are rallying around the family of 4 who have lost their home.

It’s still warm today, but not as hot as yesterday…

TemperaturesReal feel 33! It’s hot in Cape Town, but what’s also hot is the love of God.  It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live, how much you own or how much you earn. It does not matter if you are a university professor or in primary school, old or young, wherever you are in your journey of life and faith, you CANNOT get away from God’s love. Psalm 36:5 says, “Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the skies.”
His love and faithfulness will follow you all the days of your life. God will never stop pursuing you. He will never abandon you. When you are faithless, He remains faithful. When you are unlovely, He loves you with an everlasting love. There is nothing you can do to make Him love you more and there is nothing you can do to make Him love you less. So kick back a bit today & feel the warmth of God’s amazing love for you!

God bless you extravagantly!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
