2-06pm
So here we are at Betty’s Bay for three nights! I got up usual time and fed the cat. She sauntered off to another part of the house … I wondered where she went, and soon found her…in the washing basket….
Straight after a busy show, I zipped home, where Mike had packed a stack of the stuff. I just had to pack my clothes and a few other things. By 10-10 we were off.
We stopped at the One Stop for breakfast and some shopping…
….and then we drove on to Somerset West. The protests on the N2 were over, so that was good. Although there are some issues on the N2 in Somerset West. Squatters are measuring out their plots on private land. That’s going to be a bit of an eyesore as you drive through.
Mike needed to stop at the Kogelberg Bioreserve to inspect some city land. While he had a little look and took some photos, I wandered up towards the picnic spot. What a delightful place….
…and this is the view…
Once that was done, we drove round the coast and soon arrived…these are the stairs up to the cottage.
We unpacked and put the kettle on for tea, only to discover, we hadn’t bought any! So I trundled down to the local cafe (which has been there since 1952) and bought some…..
While I was away buying tea, Mike heard a “doof doof” sound on the outside deck and a troop of baboons rapidly descended on the house…quickly he closed the windows. They ran around the house looking for another entrance, peering in at the windows to see if they could see anything to eat! A good early warning for us to keep the big windows closed…unless we are sitting right in front of it, which I am now!
Now we are drinking tea and I’m wrapping up my blog. This is absolutely a room with a view…from where I sit, this is what I see…
We have bought the telescope with us and are looking forward to some stargazing! I’ve just set the telescope up on the deck and have been watching Mike swimming in the (very cold sea)! This is wonderful for me….I can see when he gets in and when he gets out, where he puts his clothes and so I don’t worry about how long he’s taking! 🙂
Part of my Bible reading this morning was Psalm 95
Psalm 95
1 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before Him with thanksgiving
and extol Him with music and song.
3 For the Lord is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
4 In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him.
5 The sea is His, for He made it,
and His hands formed the dry land.
This weekend is a time of refreshment for us. We will be enjoying the sea and the mountains. Tomorrow, we are planning a mountain walk.
I have got to get this posted, because, apart from touching sides with David – who is off to Stellenbosch on a camp, I’m now G-video talking with Stacey in Vietnam on my cellphone, which is quite remarkable.
God bless you loads!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
