8 Glorious Years…What I Have Learnt…

Today was significant because we celebrated 8 years of presenting the Rise and Shine Show.

So was my wonderful husband Mike, but I didn’t take a photo of him!

We worked out it must be close to 2000 shows. That’s 2000 early mornings. 2000 sets of programme notes. What have I learnt in 8 years of presenting the Rise and Shine Show?

I’ve learnt it’s not about me. I’ve learnt that less is better. I’ve learnt that every second counts. I’ve learnt to be very careful what I say. I’ve learnt that God can take the ordinary and make it extraordinary. I’ve learnt that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. I’ve learnt that with God all things are possible & that He cares for each of us in an incredibly unique and individual way. I’ve learnt that the best hour of the day is between 4 & 5am when I meet with God and lay the day at His feet. I’ve learnt that I can’t please everyone. I’ve learnt that by committing all my shows to the Lord, when people complain, He’s got my back! I’ve learnt that what affects people most in the Rise and Shine Show is the Word of God. I’ve learnt to be more focused. I’ve learnt to put mistakes behind me and move on. I’ve learnt to be calmer – it is, after all, only dead air – there is no blood! I’ve learnt to laugh at myself! I’ve  learnt you can have joy in all circumstances. I’ve learnt that it is important to be thankful and to be faithful. I’ve learnt the best way is God’s way. I’m learning to apply Ephesians 4:2 which says “Be completely humble and gentle. Be patient, bearing with one another in love.”

I’m hoping my family get the same Helga at home that the listening audience get’s on air. She’s a happy, caring, loving girl who knows she has a very very long way to go. But she also knows that God loves her very very much and she is firmly in His grip!

And so are you!
