Friday
Today was the day…
We’ve been in the house for 23 months. Next month it’s 2 years. I haven’t always remembered the monthly anniversaries of us moving here, but today I’ve been aware of it. This is because this week there have been some things happen that we have never seen before and it reminds me of the uniqueness of the location. The one was the Mama whale with her calf, that I waxed lyrical about the other day (I see the video has been taken down). Today we saw another sight I’ve not seen before. There was a little orange stunt plane that flew really low over the bay right in front of our house. It then flew vertically upwards before doing a somersault! It was both amazing and alarming at the same time. I heard the plane coming and could hear it was very close by. Then I heard a change in the engine noise and wondered what was happening. After the flip, it flew off into the distance.
It’s been a beautiful day which has ended with quite a lot of cloud cover…
Meanwhile, Mike had a job to do today – he needed to finish the lights on the cottage. He’s rigged up a sensor & put them on the solar system, so when night falls, the lights come on and light up the main stairs.
This week Courage also finished painting the laundry. Part of the roof has been replaced to add some light…
Now we are gearing up to get the cottage roof cleaned. I was interested to see the house down the road (with a massive roof) being cleaned the same way we intend doing it…
The whole left side was once as black as the chimney side. Courage and Brian can get ours done before full summer starts.
This afternoon, I walked down to my flat in Fish Hoek. The final belongings of the tenant have been moved and I went to pick up the keys. Tomorrow is a special day because we meet the new tenants at the flat to show them around & leave them to start cleaning. They are beyond excited. There’s maintenance work to be done…
- Broken window latches
- No toilet cistern cover
- Built in balcony roof is leaking badly
- Woodwork needs sanding down and varnishing
For the rest it just needs a good scrub.
And so the week has ended and while I’ll work Monday, all my British based colleagues are taking the day off for the Queen’s funeral. I’ll work a few hours and then do the same.
This is the Bible verse from my diary today and it always reminds me of Stacey as she has embroidered it and it’s framed and on her wall…
Proverbs 24:3-4
By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
