Two hundred days down and probably about 400 to go. That’s the braces update. On 17th May when I last saw the orthodontist, he was very happy with progress. Initially, he said this would be between 22 & 26 months of treatment. He says we are way ahead of schedule, so if that makes it 20 months at 30 days a month, that’s 600 days from. It may be more. I sort of feel the worst is over. The next major hurdle will be the surgery. He said that may be late this year, early next, so that is something for me to bear in mind. Meanwhile, I’ve adjusted and it’s just a matter of getting on with life.
I was saying to Mike today if you had told me a year ago that by June this year I’d have braces, I would have thought not in a million years. Braces now or dentures later – that was the choice. I took the former and am so glad I did.
Onward.
Today Mike and I walked to the Neighbourhood Farm along-side False Bay Hospital.

Fresh and organic veg for sale.
On the way back we wondered how much more Fish Hoek will change in the coming years. It reminded me to take a couple of photos. This is the path between Silverglades and the dirt road behind Fish Hoek Sports fields…
Fish Hoek Sports Fields…
And the dirt road….
When I’m out and about again, I must take more photos further towards Sun Valley. There are large open tracts of land and I wonder how long it will be before they are developed.
This evening we did things back to front. Julian, Mike and I usually go out for dinner and come home for dessert. Today David bought around the most amazing yellow tail, freshly caught by his fisherman friend Ashley. I cooked it up and it was delicious. Then we went out for ice cream! Julian and I were talking about Elsie and Julian reminded me that we were on the bus going from Rome airport to Termini station when Stacey whatsapped sending her ultrasound photos. I still get emotional reading this…it was Friday 29th September 2017.
That blessing is now a year old. We rejoice! It’s good to be reminded of these things. God is faithful.
Psalm 91:1
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
It’s good to be reminded of this as well.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
Gym:
I was going to go to gym, but it was such a beautiful day, we walked to the neighbourhood farm instead and walked a bit more later on in the day as well. I’ve done 16830 steps today.
Braces:
Yip, day 200! That’s a milestone!
