The emails have been piling up this week. This morning there were 141 of them in one inbox. By the end of the day, I had got that down to 54. Along with those that came into my own inbox, I dealt with easily 100 emails. Boom! It felt good. It also took five hours, but it felt that I got on top of it. The other thing I want to mention about this exercise is that it was mostly carried out in my pajamas and under my duvet! That was until my laptop needed recharging. The pajamas stayed but I moved to my desk. It was only later that I got dressed.
Getting everything under control is important because Tuesday I go off the grid for two nights.
No blog Tuesday or Wednesday. No cell phone.
We’ll see how I cope with that!
It does not happen often.
Last time I was without a cell phone was 1996. I got my first in 1997.
So today in Cape Town has been delightfully overcast with periodic showers. I got some exercise and went around the block a couple of times, walking past the pond and seeing a little more water. Soon it will start filling up.
It almost was as if the storm of Tuesday/Wednesday flipped the winter switch – opening the door to the cold and wintry weather for which the Cape of Storms is well known.
Sadly, from the crisis of the storm, South Africa went straight to a crisis in Knysna where brutal fires caused about 700 homes to be razed to the ground and thousands of people displaced. The devastation was overwhelming and to hear that arson was the cause was difficult to come to terms with…
More fires are burning in Port Elizabeth with news of the N2 being closed between PE and Jeffry’s Bay. Fire can move so fast, leaving such a devastating trail of destruction. It is a somber sight seeing the flames and smoke and catastrophic loss of land, homes and such suffering.
No matter what we go through, there’s a truth that we can cling onto….
Hebrews 13:5
God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Never is never.
He will be with us until the very end.
After work today, I watched tennis and went for a run. It was so invigorating and I felt great afterwards.
#321 of my 1000 thanks is for the endorphins that come from intense exercise!
These are the days!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
