It is a most bizarre thing to be doing in the middle of the night and yet there I was on a balmy Thursday morning at 2-30am outside in the front garden in my pajamas and my slippers.
I had woken up worrying about Truffles and so I went downstairs to see if she was okay. She was sleeping on the couch. She woke up and started asking for food (the appetite booster had worked). I fed her and tried to get some water down her, as my biggest concern is that she has not been drinking. We had closed her in the house as we didn’t want the local black cat to come in. She meowed a bit, so I opened the back door and let her out. I didn’t want her locked out, so I picked up the long weeder I have (I’ll take a photo in the next couple of days) and went outside to wait for her to finish up.
With the security light shining down on me at 2-30am I started my chore of taking out 100 weeds. Methodically pulling them out and counting, I got on with the job. If anyone had driven past, they would have wondered what on earth I was doing. I mused about how a year ago I would absolutely not have ventured outside in the middle of the night.
The front garden has been absolutely taken over with weeds. They have been getting on my nerves, but until the other day, I have been doing nothing about them. I figured I should try to use my teatime/ eye break time to pull out a few weeds. I started counting them. Pulling 100 out per session is just enough to feel I have done something without breaking my back (and it is back-breaking work!). I figure I have another 7 full days of 100 per day to really make a difference. I’ll have to let you know if I keep it up.
This evening, when we came home from dinner with Julian, I pulled another 100. I will have to time myself next time and I’ll produce a photo!
With Julian in town, I managed to make the most of today. I did almost an hour of work before meeting for breakfast. I did a little more on our return before going to gym. Home from gym and it was straight into two Skype calls with co-workers that were about an hour and a half altogether. Then there was more work in the afternoon until Julian arrived and we walked to Harbour Bay.
Truffles is eating but not drinking as much as she used to. She is not back to normal. I am having to resort to giving her lots of wet food. The vet says Whiskers is like cocaine for cats, so that’s what Truffles is on at the moment. It’s moist and runny and so Truffles gets more fluid in this way. I’m struggling to get her to drink. I may start trying syringes of water. Her kidney blood tests were okay; so were her liver results, so we are not sure what the problem is. It’s a case of taking one day at a time. We are due to go to Stacey next weekend. David has said he will come and stay with her.
#918 of my 1000 thanks is that Truffles is eating.
Isaiah 42:13
The Lord shall go forth like a mighty man; He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war. He shall cry out, yes, should aloud; He shall prevail against His enemies.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
