This morning, unexpectedly, Stacey suggested I come to Swellendam for the day. Adrian was going out and she liked the sound of some company. By 9am, I was sitting in her lounge and we had a good natter. Elsie is 5 days away from 9 months. She can pull herself up and stand. In this picture, I stood her up and she stood like this for quite a while before finally plonking herself down on her bottom.
She is very curious about everything. As soon as I have her in my arms and I smile at her, when she sees my braces, she has to try figure out what that is! Her little fingers head straight for my teeth so she can feel for herself! Eagle-eyed that’s for sure and very curious. It’s not only my teeth she’s interested in but what are these things?
Adorable and a joy to all.
Going to Swellendam for the day is not too bad. I went alone and had the added blessing of a couple of roadworks where I had to stop. It is an opportunity to see the beauty of the surrounding farmlands…like these mielies outside Riviersonderend…
I just love driving along the N2 and seeing the beautiful farms and rolling hills. The spectacular mountains, sheep by the 1000s, horses, wide open spaces, cattle, farmhouses, windmills and it all looks so rich and fertile. The road is being maintained and upgraded in places. Most of it is done and it makes for excellent driving. What a privilege to be able to hop in my car and be in Swellendam less than 3 hours later.
After I got home, I had a sleep and this evening I have done my taxes! They are almost complete. I just need to figure out the calculation side of things before I send them off to my accountant for checking and submitting. Because I was in Swellendam today, it feels like it should be Sunday.
Seeing the family today took me back to when Stacey was Elsie’s age and she was becoming mobile. Life certainly has seasons and each one passes making way for the next. Time seems to crawl forward but flies by in hindsight. Elsie is almost 9 months old. In 3 months she will be a year old! How did that happen? Looking back, it’s gone so fast. The best is yet to come.
Genesis 2:7
The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
God gave us life.
These are the days!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
