We Caught the Train to Simon’s Town

Saturday

Dear Elsie

Today was the day we did what we have procrastinated over for a long time! We caught the train to Simon’s Town. One day I hope to take you on it too! It’s the new blue train that runs regularly from Fish Hoek to Simon’s Town and stops at Sunny Cove. This morning I saw it pass at 8.20am, then again at 9.20am and figured it would go past an hour later as well. At some time after 10.10am, we headed down the road. As we got to Highway, we saw the train pull out of Fish Hoek station, so we hot-footed it down Sunny Cove steps & dashed across the road to the platform. The train was slow, so we had a bit of time to spare. Mike waiting for the train…

Train pulled up and we got in…

Inside the seats are along the windows. There is security on board. It’s safe and clean and organised.

There is no ticket office at Sunny Cove Station, so we expected to be able to pay at Simon’s Town. We asked the security at Simon’s Town and they said we had to buy tickets at Fish Hoek! There is a ticket office at Simon’s Town but there’s no one in it.

We decided to walk home. We stopped here:

….and enjoyed this view from the lookout point.

We walked onto Glencairn and watched the train pass by again.

It was a 5.5km walk home and it was thirsty work.  We enjoyed resting this afternoon. We also sorted out the loft for guests tonight. Then I went shopping. Later we had dinner here…

Such a satisfying day.

More from 2 Corinthians 4
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

That’s why it’s not about now – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Gran xx 🙂
