Whenever I have been to Cape Point, I’ve looked out from the car park to the Cape of Good Hope which is the most south western point of Africa and admired the paths that take you there. I regularly said, “one day, I’m going to do that walk.”
Today was the day!
My brother is in town. We set off early and got to the Cape Point Nature Reserve just before the crowds arrived. We were greeted by a member of the welcoming committee, who I have to admit was more interested in the spectacular view….
We parked at the Cape of Good Hope…
And headed up a steep path with a LOAD of steps. It’s easy to follow and takes you up to a a t-junction. Go right to the view point, which we did. It has an amazing rocky outcrop with sweeping sea views.
We then followed the path back to the junction, where left says ‘trail.’ We headed off that way and walked over rocks and down a sandy track until the boardwalk begins. The sturdy planked walkway is well maintained and makes walking so much easier. The views amazing. This is Dias beach, with Cape Point in the distance. Our destination was to be the Cape Point car park. The silver path in the middle left of the picture is the walk way.
There is an amazing set of steps taking you down to Dias Beach…
We didn’t go down there today, choosing to admire the view from a lookout point…
In order to get to the car park, the path takes you upwards…
We soon arrived, bought take-away cappuccinos and sat in a shady spot to enjoy them. Then it was the return trip.
I had stood on this spot many times before wondering what it would be like to do this walk…
Absolutely stunning. The weather, the spring flowers, the majestic views…
Plenty of easy walking…Nearing our destination…
Until eventually, we could see our car and the bunches of tourists who were crowding in to take a photo with the sign….
Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–His eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
Cape Town is a magnificent display of God’s creation.
We are blessed to live here.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
