Walking on a Rainy Day

This morning I woke up soooooo stiff! It was the Grid workout from yesterday that had my entire torso, from my stomach muscles to my shoulders absolutely *talking*. Today I knew I had to get some exercise, but I didn’t want to overdo it. Mike had to meet the concrete guy at Echo, so he dropped me at the beginning of Echo and I walked home. I decided to walk the length of Ranger Rd.

Ranger Rd is one of the quirky things about Fish Hoek. You can’t get onto Ranger Rd and drive to the end. It doesn’t work like that because it’s in 4 parts. From Echo, I walked along Highway, until I got to Ranger.  I turned left into Ranger and went until it intersects with Berg Rd. A slight angle across Berg Rd, left turn and Ranger starts again but only for a couple of 100m. It’s a cul-de-sac with a little path to the next section of Ranger. This one is longer. On this section there is an old reservoir which in days past was on the outskirts of the town and the highest part of the development. This part joins Pass Rd which joins Kommetjie Rd. Ranger continues the other side of a sluit. You can walk through but you cannot drive.

You have to walk up a hill to get to the next section. When you get to the top you find yourself at the end of  another Ranger Rd cul-de-sac. Looking forward this is the view…

Looking back, this is the view…with Ranger Road visible in the middle…

The next section is quite long and runs parallel to Hershel Rd which is above it. It soon joins Quarry Rd. You have to turn left onto Quarry and then immediately right into the final section of Ranger.

This takes you to the end, which believe it or not is at the base of Harrington right next to the new Evergreen Development..

This was where I walked…

I’ll definitely do it again. This was the distance altogether…

I missed the rain. There were a few drops as I approached home, but it didn’t cause me to put my jacket on.

Today we had the disappointing news that we will need departures (neighbour consent) for a few things for our build. This lengthens the process considerably. Lower expectations are required. I wonder if I pin my hopes on a January start and we move in next year September, it will be more realistic! Still a big blessing that it is in our future. Unless the Lord builds the house, they that build it labour in vain. He’s got this planned.

Mike has a tooth abscess. This morning he went to the dentist and got antibiotics. He’s already had three today and the pain is much better.

It’s been raining, so I am in bed, drinking tea and watching YouTube. I’ve got ten pages left of Persuasion. I’ll read those this evening too.

Grateful for this day!

1 John 4:8

Anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

Those are serious words.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
