Video of the Silvermine Waterfalls

Tuesday of this week – so that’s the 5th July 2016  – it poured with rain. I was expecting the rain to continue into yesterday, but Wednesday dawned cold, but dry and sunny. In the afternoon, I suggested to Mike we do a quick walk to the Silvermine Waterfall which I did with Julian and couple of weeks ago. Mike agreed and off we set. With all the rain from Tuesday, the waterfall has grown in size and volume and is now quite impressive. Mike had never been here before.

This picture was taken at the first base of the waterfall, but the river continues and there are more steps going down to that level…

Mike and I marked the  moment with a selfie…

And then Mike videoed it…

Absolutely stunning. If you do go, just a reminder as to where exactly this is. As you go over Ou Kaapse Weg from the city side, you will pass the entrance to Silvermine on the right – that’s gate 1 – don’t turn there! A short distance on, on the left side, there is a second turn-off – that’s gate 2 – turn there! Once you’ve parked, follow the main jeep track up the road towards Fish Hoek.  About 1km along the road there is this sign…

Waterfall sign

Follow it down to the upper rocks of the waterfall, where you will see rugged stone steps taking you down to the first base. When heavy rain has fallen, those steps are wet, so do take care. When you get to the waterfall, you’ll recognised the photos and video above.

It’s a short walk – we did it in an hour (return) and it’s a real treat to visit.

I love the outdoors and with Mike soon, hopefully, to have more time on his hands, we may end up being able to both hike and play more golf. I haven’t been caddying for him as often as I used to due to my own work pressures. The joy is that I am earning and for that we are grateful!

Read the beautiful words from Psalm 5:3

“In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.”

Nothing is too big for God to deal with. Lay your requests before Him and wait in expectation.

That’s faith.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
